ventouses therapy, also known as cupping, is an ancient technique that heals, drains, regenerates, alleviates, restructures and soothes. the method consists in applying a small cup on the skin. the gentle vacuum suction dilates the pores and the blood vessels (capillaries).
according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, this technique stimulates the flow of Ki by repairing the blockages of the meridians. blockages in the meridians can cause the formation of deposits of blood and other body fluids beneath the skin. Suction therapy carries these deposits to the surface of the skin where they may be released from the body. Cupping heats the meridians, helps circulate the energy and activate the blood circulation. The suction induced by the pressure in the cup brings what is deep (Yin) to the surface (Yang). The energy blocked inside (Yin) will be brought to the surface (Yang) and released.
cupping regulates the flow of Ki and Blood. It also helps to aspirate and eliminate external pathogenic factors (Wind, Cold, Moisture, Heat). Blockages are dissolved, pain decreases, blood circulation improves, muscles relax and internal heat is reduced.
treatment with cupping therapy has the visible effect of reddened skin bruises. after treatment, the treated areas may become purple and the circular signs may remain visible for several days.
