instructing restorative yoga is like facilitating naptime. a deeply nourishing, expansive and proactive rest. in order for your body to *heal itself* it must be in a state of true relaxation. restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the rest and digest mode) that enables this healing to take place. restorative poses aim to gently alleviate fascial tightness and muscular tension, create openness by improving mobility/flexibility, and promote regenerative growth in soft tissue structures. on spiritual and emotional levels, by creating space in your body you are clearing the way of past emotion and trauma, and opening towards lightness and harmony.
even if you’re a cardio fanatic and LOVE the sweat and flow of vinyasa, it is crucial to slow down with at least one restorative session a week. this is when all the positive changes will be integrated in your bod, and you get the calm and cool that you deserve.
benefits of restorative yoga include immune system boost, balancing of the nervous system, increase of blood flow to vital organs, repair of damaged tissue, and feelings of euphoria and bliss. after I instruct a class everyone comes out looking super floaty and peaceful).. could be all the reiki too ;)

over the past decade many studies have shown the truly healing effects of earthing (grounding), the practice of placing your bare feet (or any skin contact) directly on the earth.

our atmosphere contains + and - charged IONS (electrically charged atoms). while grounding, the earth acts as a magnet and *pulls* from your body the POSITIVE IONS (counterintuitive to their name, +IONS cause stress/disease and impair brain function, and are created by technology/pollution). research shows that earthing for 30 mins a day significantly decreases inflammation, boosts the immune system, increases blood flow, reduces pain and lowers cortisol levels (stress chemicals), all while causing a calming, connected sense of clarity.

I hang out in parks frequently to earth, meditate, journal. stretch and process. return to source. this part of my routine is what keeps me feeling grounded living in a city. especially since I spend so much time working from my computer (literally absorbing +IONS) I make sure to get my daily fix of the magnetic mother earth. nature heals! pro tip: visualizing the +/- dual channel while actively earthing enhances the process by adding mind magic to the mix. as always, xo
